SETH

Born in Incheon, he moved to Fullerton, California at six. Orange County in the late 2000s was holy ground for metalcore, and Avenged Sevenfold from neighboring Huntington Beach, plus the Killswitch Engage, Unearth and As I Lay Dying pouring out of the older kids' cars, were his English teachers. That is why STROBERIOT's lyrics are in English. Korean is saved for a single shout at the moment a song explodes. He learned the chest-scraping low roar from Randy Blythe and the high, tearing scream from Trevor Phipps. He came back to Korea in 2015 and met BLAKE at Nakwon Arcade.

인천에서 태어나 여섯 살에 미국 캘리포니아 풀러턴으로 건너갔다. 2000년대 후반 오렌지카운티는 메탈코어의 성지였고, 옆 동네 헌팅턴비치 출신 Avenged Sevenfold, 동네 형들 차에서 흘러나오던 Killswitch Engage와 Unearth, As I Lay Dying이 그의 영어 선생이었다. 그래서 STROBERIOT의 가사는 영어다. 한국어는 곡이 터지는 순간 외침 한 방에만 쓴다. 가슴을 긁는 중저음 로어는 Randy Blythe에게서, 높게 찢어지는 스크림은 Trevor Phipps에게서 배웠다. 2015년 귀국해 낙원상가에서 BLAKE를 만났다.

In the summer of 2010, when he was ten, Avenged Sevenfold from next door released Nightmare, an album dedicated to their late drummer. SETH remembers the older kids sitting silently in a car with that album playing, and he remembers it as the power music has to hold people in place. At twelve, Howard Jones left Killswitch Engage and Jesse Leach returned. Singing along to both voices, he ended up with a thick roar and a deep, resonant clean in the same throat.

열 살이던 2010년 여름, 옆 동네 Avenged Sevenfold가 세상을 떠난 드러머에게 바친 앨범 Nightmare를 냈다. 동네 형들이 차 안에서 그 앨범을 틀어 놓고 말없이 앉아 있던 장면을, SETH는 음악이 사람을 붙잡아 두는 힘으로 기억한다. 열두 살에는 Killswitch Engage에서 Howard Jones가 떠나고 Jesse Leach가 돌아왔다. 두 보컬의 노래를 모두 따라 부르다 보니, 굵은 로어와 울림 깊은 클린을 한 목에 같이 갖게 됐다.

He never says a word on stage. No talk, no greetings. He only makes a sound when he sings.
